Salem Sue – North Dakota
– from High Plains Artifacts
16″ x 20″ ed. 10
She was built in 1974 for $40,000 and put up by the New Salem Lions Club to honor the local dairy-farming community.
As I was putting the lens on the camera to make this image, the two Stetson wearing cowboys you see in the photo above, walked into my frame.
They stood there for a only few short minutes admiring the great bovine sculpture and I was able to make this image.
Sometimes, the photo Gods like you and want to help you make better images.
I heard one of them say to the other, “Well I’ll tell you what, Reece – this is a helluva thing you got right here, boy.”
Apparently there are a lot of giant sculptures in North Dakota.
