killing time

I stopped and made the brick pool photograph in a Chicago alley, on the way to photograph the image below. I was killing time, waiting for the sun to set because I wanted to use a long exposure to make some images of the Ashland/Lake CTA station

I’ve always liked the Queen Anne style CTA station and I’ve thought about photographing it many times over the years,  but never did until Saturday night.

It turns out that the station has been there since 1893, and apparently it’s one of the oldest standing Chicago Transit Authority stations. It was restored, then reopened in 1996 and I always admire the old structure whenever I see it.
