Commuting in and around Chicago every day is not a piece of cake. It takes driving ability of course, but mental toughness and a good dose of self-preservation are also needed to survive the daily Indy 500 that is Chicago commuting.
I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff on the Chicago expressways over the years and I’ve come to the conclusion that if you don’t like contact sports, you probably won’t last long as a Chicago commuter. Not that there’s much contact between vehicles, aside from occasional accidents. It’s just that at the high speeds everyone travels at, other vehicles can get dangerously close to you at times and things happen very quickly. So you need to be as relaxed as you can be but highly aware of what’s going on around you at the same time. Coffee helps.
The images above are from this past week’s commute.
