Recently a friend and I went down to Burns Harbor near Gary, Indiana to see if I could make some decent images of the Chicago skyline from the southeast.It’s 26.5 miles across Lake Michigan from Burn’s Harbor to downtown Chicago. It was a balmy night and there happened to be a fiery red and burnt orange sunset too.
I made a few exposures of the Chicago skyline, then rotated the camera a few degrees to the east and made the image above, of the beach party and steel mills.
The photo below was made a couple of weeks later on a much windier night.
