deconstruction Midewin Tallgrass Prairie, Illinois
Frequently at this time of year I start to think of heading out to Midewin, to see the prairie again.
Midewin Tallgrass Prairie is 20 miles outside of Chicago and it’s a beautiful natural area that is being slowly returned to the native tallgrass prairie it once was, by the United States Forest Service. The place was for many years, called the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant (formerly Joliet Arsenal)
Bison were recently reintroduced there from a heard in South Dakota.
