Inevitably at this time of year like everyone else, I start to crave light.
Eventhough the days are getting longer, the soft winter light of January and February often makes me think I’m in a Bergman film.
Bergman’s favorite cameramen was Sven Nykvist and the great Swedish cinematographer had a certain formal approach to cinematography that I really liked. He used beautiful, soft light frequently and his camerawork in general was very elegant to me.
