blue die – 2014
This image is actually a composite of a few images. I photographed the surface of the blue die at about 4x life-size and the depth of field
was so shallow that I had to shoot “layers of focus” and then later combine the layers to create a totally sharp image.
From the bottom of the paint filled dimples to the die surface, is probably less than an 1/16th of an inch but at approximately 4 x life-size, depth of field is so shallow that it really becomes more of an abstract idea.
