I’ve been driving past this domed structure near Chicago for years. It’s an inflatable “building” where you can go to practice your golf swing and It’s made of really strong, flexible vinyl. The dome like structure is kept up with fans that pull air in from outside and send it inside, thereby keeping the structure inflated.
Not sure what would happen if the power ever went out there, although I’m sure they must have at least a couple of huge emergency generators to keep the fans blowing.
Although I’ve never been inside the balloon like structure, I really like the geometry of the place, so I finally stopped the other day and made this image.
