The gift of music

I couldn’t really find a “Mother’s Day”  image in my collection and I wanted to honor my Mom,  so I’m posting this picture of my first horn that my she bought me when I was 9 years old. I learned to play on this horn and I played it continuously until I was in 11th grade when my folks bought me a beautiful Bach Bb trumpet.

I recently had the bell of this cornet bent up a few degrees like Diz’s horn, and I also took the lacquer finish off. Now, the brass has a beautiful, deep, and burnished look to it and I swear it sounds better. This cool little horn projects more because of the bent bell, too. I  still play it occasionally but I prefer to play my Bach Stradivarius Bb trumpet.

Thanks for giving me the gift of music Mom!
